1. All manufacturers must provide a method for the user to reinstall the operating system. If you haven't been supplied with a DVD, there will be either a recovery partition that sets the machine back to factory settings or a method of creating a DVD. Have a look at your documentation and/or the manufacturer's website for instructions.
2. What you can do is download/burn a repair CD, scroll down here http://neosmart.net/blog/2009/windows-7-system-repair-discs/ or here http://techpp.com/2009/10/20/download-windows-7-recovery-disc/
3. Now try to repair your computer using the CD:
Boot from the CD, answer a few questions, navigate to the Repair Option and choose:
3A. Startup Repair (you may have to run this several times).
3B. If 3A doesn't work, choose Command Prompt from the Repair menu, then:
Type BOOTREC /FIXMBR (the capitals are for clarity only) and press Enter
Type BOOTREC /FIXBOOT (the capitals are for clarity only) and press Enter
Finally, close the cmd prompt, remove the CD and let the computer restart.
Hi ,
I saw you post this for other questions, but this does not fix my problem. On the system recovery options there is no operating system listed, only a blank box. Using cmd these are my results:
bootrec /ScanOs
Successfully scanned windows installations.
Total identified Windows Installations: 1
[1] C:\Windows
The operation completed succesfully
----------------------------
bootrec /RebuildBCD
Total identified Windows Installations: 1
[1] C:\Windows
Add installation to boot list? Yes
Element not found
----------------------------
bootrec /fixmbr
Operation completed successfully
--------------------------
bootrec /fixboot
Element not found
--------------------------
Doing startup repair doesn't affect anything either. I am thinking it may be because there is no OS listed.
However, I am still facing the same "operating system not found" problem.
Thanks again!
