Installing new printer HP LaserJet network shared printer (with safecom) in Mac OS X 10.8.5

1) Go to "System Preferences" using Spotlight (Spotlight can be accessed by "Command" and "Space bar" key combination" 

2) Click on "Print & Scan" found in "Hardware" section

3)  Click on the "+" button below the list of available printers and click on "Add Printer or Scanner"

4) Click on the "Advanced" tab in the pop up window.

5) Here you can find the advanced configurations of adding a network printer.

Choose "Type" as "Windows Printer via spoolss"

Device as "Another Device"

URL as "smb:///"

Since you have selected as "Windows printer" the protocol we use here is smb 

Name your printer under the Name text box and click on "Add"

How to configure HP printer to print on both side of pages in Mac OS X 10.8.5

How to enable HP Laser Jet 500 MFP printer (configured with SafeCom) to print on both the side of pages in Mac OS X ?

Some times we may need to get our sheets printed on both of its sides. Do the below mentioned configuration to enable it.

1) Go to "System Preferences" using Spot light  and click on "Print & Scan" icon.

2) On the left side of the "Print & Scan" Window you could see the list of installed printers.

3) Choose the printer of your choice and click on "Options & Supplies" button

4) In the pop up window choose "Driver" tab

5) check/enable the option "Duplex Printing Unit" and click on "Ok"

Now your installed printer is equipped to print on both side of pages.

However, keep in mind that, printing on both sides will only work if you choose "Two-Sided" option in the Print Dialog!!
